MRT/LRT Fares

How much is the ticket fare?

You can use the General Ticketing Machine (GTM) as it will display the ticket fare once you select your destination station. Or you can simply refer to the Station Fare Chart to find your ticket fare.

The fares for the stored value smartcard and the Standard Ticket will be deducted automatically at the faregate.

How do I pay for the fare?

You can choose to use the following:

  • Stored Value Smartcard (e.g. EZ-Link smartcard, NETS FlashPay card)
  • Contactless Card registered under Account-Based Ticketing Pilot
  • Standard Ticket
  • Train Concession Pass
  • Hybrid Concession Pass
  • Singapore Tourist Pass

How do I use the smartcard at the MRT/LRT stations?

Simply tap your stored value smartcard or Standard Ticket on the card reader mounted on top of the entry faregate. A green or orange light means it is clear to proceed through the entry faregate.

Kindly take note that you will need a minimum travel value of $3 in your stored value smartcard in order to pass through the entry faregate.

How do I get to the platform of the stations?

There are directional signs that you can follow to go to the platform. Please check the destination number of your destination station to ensure that you are going to the correct platform.

What are the important things to take note while waiting for my train?

  1. Please stand behind the yellow line while waiting for the train.
  2. Never go down to the tracks even if you have dropped something onto the guideway. Please use the intercom, emergency telephone (for Bt Panjang LRT) or emergency fire phone (for Sengkang/Punggol LRT) at the platform to speak to staff for assistance.
  3. There are tactile paths to guide the visually impaired. Kindly stay clear from the tactile pathway.

How will I know when my train is arriving?

There are 2 systems that help inform passengers of transit information such as train arrival times and destinations. They are Rail Travel Information System (RATIS) for the MRT and Passenger Information System (PIS) for the NEL.

It will also display messages if there are any train disruptions.

What are the important things to take note when boarding the train?

  1. When the train arrives, please allow alighting passengers to move out first.
  2. If you hear the warning signal indicating the closing of train doors, please do not rush in.
  3. Kindly move inside the train to avoid crowding at the doorway.
  4. When making transfers, use the line diagram in the train to counter-check for the right interchange station.
  5. Prepare to alight when your destination is announced.

How do I leave the station once I alight from my train?

  1. Simply follow the “Way Out” and “Exit” signs to the concourse, then proceed to the exit faregate where you can see a lit green arrow.
  2. Tap your stored value smartcard or Standard Ticket on the card reader mounted on top of the exit faregate. The correct fare will be automatically calculated and deducted from your stored value smartcard. You will see the remaining value of your card on the digital display on top of the faregate.
  3. A green or orange light means it is clear to proceed through the exit faregate.
  4. If you are behind other passengers and the faregate is open, just tap your stored value smartcard or Standard Ticket on the card reader and proceed as soon as the green light appears. If you are unable to exit, please approach the Passenger Service Centre for help.

Oh no! I keep tapping my card but the faregate won't open. What should I do?

If the gates refuse to open despite tapping your card, it might be due to insufficient stored value in the card. Not to worry! Just go to the Passenger Service Centre or the GTM at unmanned LRT stations to pay the additional fare for that portion of the journey not covered by your card.

Is there a time limit for MRT/LRT travel?

Yes, the maximum time allowed is 120 minutes. Should you exceed the duration, your travel card / Standard Ticket will be rejected by the faregate. Please note that you will need to approach the Passenger Service Centre or GTM located in the paid area at unmanned LRT Stations to pay an administrative charge of $2 for your card / ticket to be upgraded.

This also applies to concession cardholders with valid concession pass.
